I spent three years in seminary, one at the undergraduate level and two at the graduate level. The latter two years were spent in Rome, Italy studying at the Gregorian University, a Jesuit institution. In my practice I welcome my clients to share their spiritual concerns (or not, as they please) as we collaborate to reaching measurable wellness goals. I welcome clients of all spiritual perspectives and persuasions to engage in these reflections.

Christian counseling is the integration of psychological theory and Biblical principles. This combination of Christianity and psychology has been particularly helpful for many people, in particular Marriage and family therapy, and issue with infidelity. The Bible is God's word, combined with the science of psychology makes for a particularly helpful approach.

God created you and knows every intimate detail of your life. He sent Jesus to pay for your sins so that you could become a child of the King of Kings. He knows everything you ever suffered and He knows how to heal you better than anyone. The Holy Spirit living in you desires to reveal Himself to you, so that He is an ever present help in time of trouble. Jesus said "Come to Me all who are weary and heavy laden and I will give you help." I want to help you learn how to know Him better and to let Him heal you.

Christians often feel guilty or ashamed because of anxiety, depression, and relationship problems. But Christians experience problems, too, and prayer and Bible reading alone do not always heal mental health issues. I will help you connect with your values and beliefs in a way that unlocks change, even if you have felt stuck in the past. I believe that all healing comes from the Holy Spirit, whether God is mentioned in the therapy room or not. Evidence-based treatment often harmonizes with the truths of Scripture, speaking to our deep places of wounding. I incorporate Scripture into therapeutic techniques and homework, offering the best of both psychology and Scriptural counsel.

While most Christian Counselors pride themselves on how many Scriptural passages they can recite and how many links they can make from the Bible to psychological disorders, the Christian-centric work of Grey Matters International, Inc.is grounded in one principle: truth. For us, the work is more about truth and transparency of Christ's message and working on the natural laws of accountability and decision making that evolves from that. If one honors God's natural laws of reaping and sowing around the decisions one makes, one is indeed living Scripture to its fullest. In the gospel of Matthew, Jesus states “If your eye is sound, your whole body will be full of light.” This simple statement guides my approach to counseling. The light exists, and we sometimes need help to improve the soundness of our mental and emotional “eyes” to let more light into our personal awareness and influence our feelings, thoughts and behavior. I respect the sacred and unique way that each person experiences a relationship with God, especially during periods of mental, emotional, or relational distress. From my own study of the Bible, I am continually impressed by the applicability of Christian values and truth to issues of mental, emotional, and relational health.
