I specialize in helping people to coordinate their spiritualities. Even people who attend the same services and hear the same sermons sometimes hear different messages. Rather than taking a Bible-centered position, I help each partner/family member to hear and accept each other's unique interpretations of the teachings and scriptural sources that have shaped who you are (and that may include non-Christian teachings and scriptures).

Is God the center of your life? Do you want his guidance on matters and concerns of your life? If so, Christian Counseling provides guidance and help based on biblical doctrine. Epiphanye Counseling Services’ approach involves utilizing the word of God to aid and support clients as it relates to the problems/concerns and goals of their lives. Christian Counseling encompasses helping clients reach understanding of the Word and its importance and relevance in their lives. It also can entail linking and applying scripture and Biblical lessons.

My definition of Christian Counseling is more about the counselor than the client. The way I respond to and care for my clients and the insights I give them are the same, whether they are an athiest or a pastor (I love working with both groups, and everyone in between). The difference is that I'm going to point the pastor to the Scripture that backs up what I just said. It is my aim to always be prepared to back up my statements, actions, and theories with what the Bible says, whether anyone around me notices or not. I rely on God's direction with clients and give Him the credit for any success "I" have had with them.

An area of Christian Counseling that is sadly under served is the area of abuse in Christian relationships. Many suffer silently because they believe that is what Jesus taught. Individuals are important to God, not just the marriage. I will work with women and men who are in abusive relationships to help them assess their relationship and what to do next.

God is called our counselor because he intimately knows each and everyone of us. He knows how we think and feel, and more importantly he knows how to get us "unstuck" emotionally. Scripture and prayer are very powerful and can help us get closer to God and to the heart of our problems. To become humble before our maker and say "I'm ready for change" is to begin to feel forward motion.

Although I see clients in my practice who practice a different faith, or no faith at all, I really enjoy working with my brothers and sisters in the Body of Christ. I hold a Bachelors degree in Theology, and love to counsel from a Christian perspective. The Directors and Officers of the International Board of Christian Counselors have conferred upon me the voluntary global credential of "Board Certified Professional Christian Counselor". They sorted through hours of paperwork I submitted before conferring this honor on me. The bottom line is not how many verses I've memorized. The bottom line is that I actively invite Him into my office to speak through me to each client. His Spirit heals.

You want a Christian counselor because your faith and relationship with God are very important to you. If so we are on the same page! I often tell people that I would never want to be a counselor without knowing that God is ultimately in control of our lives and his Holy Spirit who give us his wisdom and strength to make healthy choices. While it's super important to connect with you and not just tell you to pray about your struggles, much of my counseling with Christians, or people of faith involves helping them look at Jesus more than their circumstances. Helpful Tip: When you talk with God about your pain, 'beat on his chest.' He can take it!

Spirituality has been referred to as ‘the forgotten dimension’ of mental health care. It has been described as being ‘where the deeply personal meets the universal’; a sacred realm of human experience. Spirituality is concerned with people finding meaning and purpose in their lives, as well as the sense of belonging, of community. Because spirituality comes into focus in times of stress, suffering, physical and mental illness, loss, dying and bereavement, it is important not only in Christian Counseling but also throughout all of medicine. Spirituality has often been called ‘a quality that strives for inspiration, reverence, awe, meaning and purpose, even in those who do not believe in God’.....
