I have worked with many couples in various stages of relationships. From those who are first starting to date, to those in preparation for marriage, I believe the importance of connection and attachment to be a vital component to the success of a relationship. Although I approach each couple differently based on their specific and unique circumstances, I draw primarily from EFT and the well known work of Sue Johnson, as well as Gottman to implement research based outcomes that work.

Couples are as unique as the individuals in the relationship. However, most couples go through similar cycles in their lives together, and have difficulty with communication and managing conflict. Some couples tend to avoid difficult discussions, and may simply sweep controversial topics aside. Other couples interact with anger, hostility and even aggression. Both of these types are negative and prevent you and your partner from having a fun, fulfilling, committed relationship. I will provide assessment for your relationship, and then teach you both skills to use to improve your communication and conflict resolution. Most couples can improve their relationship in 6-10 sessions.

Couples therapy is my passion! Relationships and all the dynamics that go along with them truly amaze me. Couples in any stage of a relationship can benefit from new perspectives and proven tools that can increase effective communication, solve problems before they start, and nurture love and respect toward one another. Restoring broken marriages and relationships is achievable. Often only one partner in the marriage or relationship is willing to come. That is normal and is often a springboard to amazing growth and health for both the individual and his or her relationships. Call for an appointment. (770)548-3034

Over time couples can get stuck in patterns of relating to one another which can, not only be non-productive, but can be counter-productive to what you really long for, a safe, loving, and respectful relationship. While you cannot change the other person, you can change yourself. Once you begin to make productive changes in how you relate to your spouse (or boyfriend/girlfriend), it opens up the possibility to change and improve the relationship. Having a qualified third party to talk with the two of you can help you both to sort through your thoughts and feelings and possibly to gain a fresh perspective.

In my therapy for couples I take the stance that your relationship is my "client". Using the studies and approach that the Gottman Method of Couples Counseling has developed we will learn what the "Solid Relationship House" is made up of and how to apply those principles to your own. How to maintain connection even when you vehemently disagree, how to grow closer by building "Love Maps", how to build true friendship in your relationship, how to strengthen or rediscover intimacy, how to recognize when we are sabotaging all of this, among other things. These tools and more will help you take away hope and relief that your relationship can be helped.

Our relationship with our significant other can be the most rewarding relationship we have. However, sometimes we find that this relationship can also be the most frustrating and painful as well. The key to a healthy relationship is a good set of skills. Skills are the difference between loving one's partner and feeling anger, resentment, and hurt. Skill are what help people keep their love alive. If you want your relationship to be healthy and happy call today for a counseling appointment with Kristin LeBlanc. Couples therapy will help you learn the skills needed to be a better partner and grow as an individual.

Although all relationships are unique, there are certain issues that I frequently see when doing couple's counseling. These may include: emotional distancing, power struggles, poor communications, jealousy issues, sexual dissatisfaction and infidelity. During counseling, we will work together on identifying and eliminating mutual misunderstandings, and we'll figure out if there are unstated assumptions that can lead to misunderstandings that negatively influence, and if left unchecked, can be detrimental to the relationship's well-being. I will introduce the parties to the important concept of unspoken conflicts, so that we can work on the issues.
