I look at couples as systems but also as individuals within the systems. I observe what is working and not working. Issues around communication, power, equality, hurt and extra-marital affairs come may be present. Many times the incoming "problem" or individual is but part of a bigger issue. There are peaks and valleys in couple counseling growth but I find if the couple is willing to hold out and be open and honest, and be commited to growth then the effort is very well worth it.

I have specialized in couples for over 8 years. I have been trained in multiple forms of couples counseling including the Gottman method. I will help you and your significant other learn how to improve your communication, argue more effectively with less fallout, and learn how to prioritize your relationship. I will not ask you to do Olympic style communication or act like a therapist in your own home. I will simply teach you how to prioritize your relationship to bring back some of the trust and feelings that may have dissipated some over your time together.

Relationships can be difficult to navigate when you're not sure which way you are going.Sometimes you need help in understanding whether or not the things you struggle with in your relationship mean you should give up and move on or if they are things that can be resolved. It is important to learn the emotional logic of each others internal world, which can be very confusing when you don't know what it is. Understanding this alone can permanently transform a couples communication. It is a wise decision to get help before you make a life altering decision. Please contact me today.

Most couples that I see come to me for help with communication. It is important for couples to understand themselves prior to the time they try to communicate with their partner. We have the right to feel any feeling or think any thought, but it's not wise to always act on them. It is wise to think about how the other party is going to respond to our thoughts and feelings. What specifically would we like them to do to help resolve the issue? Contact me today and let me help you learn to work out your differences in thoughtful systematic ways to allow you the time to plan fun things to do to keep your relationship vibrant and healthy. -Dr. Jeff Sherrill of Meers, Inc.

I firmly believe that companionship is an essential part of our well-being. However, in times of change and stress these important relationships can be tested. Whether it is pre-marital counseling or other relationship counseling you are seeking, I will use a systems based approach to help you and your partner look at various of aspects of your lives and identify where the problems lie. Once the problems have been identified, we will work on techniques including communication and problem solving skills to help you both improve the satisfaction within your relationship.

Couples counseling is useful for many people. In my work, I've helped people who are in same sex relationships find peace and healing, increase communication skills, and build a stronger relationship. I've also worked with heterosexual couples who are not married but in a committed relationship. Couples counseling can be extremely useful in helping two people who are in relationship understand themselves as individuals, and who they are as a couple.
