Every couple's issue is rooted in emotional intimacy. It is the glue that holds the relationship together or if it is non existent or weak, it will make the relationship fall apart. This is the reason why my work with couples start with identifying and repairing the areas of emotional disconnect before working on communication or other potential issues.
