Depression is the single most diagnosed problem in mental health. I believe it can be divided into two categories: situational depression and clinical depression. While the causes of depression remain unclear, we are fortunate to have many approaches which have helped countless people regain their lives. As there may be many factors involved in why an individual is depressed I always do a thorough assessment. While I am not adverse to psychiatric medications I have concluded that their use for depression is questionable, albeit an option when combined with therapies such as Cognitive-Behavior Therapy, Mindfulness, Behavioral Activation, and Logotherapy.
