Sadness is a common reaction to many of life's circumstances. It becomes depression when it is ever present and is interfering with your daily life and activities. I help clients find beliefs that keep them stuck in a depressive state and help them get unstuck and moving on with their lives. I offer practical tips and support about how to move in a healthy positive direction.

Depression can be debilitating. It can rob you of your happiness and wreak havoc in your relationships. No one starts out in life depressed, so what happened to cause this? Well, there are many possible causes - hurtful, toxic childhood, genetics, lack of a support network or even chronic frustration and lack of control in your life. There are degrees of depression and there are tools which you can learn to help you manage your symptoms. I teach my clients the skills they need to overcome depression. I also educate my clients so they are aware of where this came from. I always have to remind my clients that depression is NOT their fault. It happens to good people, caring people.

When you experience a severely depressed mood and decreased activity level for an extended period of time, your life really changes. Hope disappears, joy drains from life, and you may feel isolated, alone, and stuck. Your efforts may fall behind in school or at work, and your relationships may feel strained. But change is possible! Although depression controls your current experience, it does not define who you most truly are. Counseling can help you break the chains of depression, and create a new experience which includes hope and a meaningful connection to life.
