My approach to depression depends greatly on the presenting problem as people become depressed for a variety of situations (anxiety, stress, existential/meaning, grief ). After assessing & evaluating a course of treatment with the client, treatment may involve cognitive behavioral therapy, relaxation techniques, Logotherapy to explore life's meaning, or perhaps an exploration of spiritual depression. Of course, if the depression is judged to be major depression referral to a physician's for medical intervention may be explored.
