Depression is a common but serious condition that is highly treatable. Depression can make everyday activities seem unbearable, things that used to be enjoyable lose value, and comfort may seem difficult to find. Depression can often interfere with relationships and responsibilities if left untreated. There is hope for regaining your love for life, happiness, and comfort. You are capable of growth and worthy of happiness.

Depression is common in our culture. The two basic approaches I use are to identify the source and go back with the client to help heal the wounds that may have fostered the depression and, if warranted, to seek medication to lessen the symptoms. Body work can be very helpful in treating depress--identifying where it may be located and finding ways to release the cellular memory.

When you feel depressed, you want a counselor who can truly understand you. I've been depressed, too, and I know first-hand how it feels: the sense of loss, the loneliness, the darkness, the fatigue, the low self-esteem. It can happen to the best of us. I'll help you find a source of deep strength inside yourself. I'll help you develop more spiritual intimacy and find the peace that passes all understanding. I'll help you find your Authentic Self, your spirit, that part of you who is always connected to God. I'll help you shine, and feel unconditionally loved. I call that grace, and it is yours for the asking. I'll show you how to receive it. You are worth it!

Depression is a symptom that could result from a number of factors: brain chemistry, diet, exercise, trauma wounds, hidden anger, failing relationships, family tension, burnout, boredom, and others. It could also possibly be the threshold to a new stage of growth and healing. I work alongside clients to explore these possibilities, and find avenues to real healing.

Every body faces difficult times in their lives. When those times cause acute stress, there can be serious depression that sets in on an individual. There is situational depression and then there is clinical depression. The client will benefit from a knowledge and experiential understanding of how to apply Biblical principles to their depression.

Depression is often a result of failed or failing relationships or a lack of fulfullment in life. I work with my clients to understand how their behaviors and relationships are currently effecting their emotions and what changes need to be made to live the life they wish for. Commonly, clients leave the first session feeling a greater sense of hope due to homework assignments they've been given and/or validation of their emotions.
