I practice a type of therapy for depression called Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy (CBT) which research has shown to be especially effective with depressive disorders. Using CBT, we work together to discover underlying beliefs (which we call cognitive distortions) that are causing or contributing to your depressive symptoms. Once identified, we then use a variety of techniques to help you correct those thinking patterns that are causing you difficulty. We measure progress constantly so that we can try new techniques if needed, to help you feel better.

Depression is a term that covers a wide range of emotions, behaviors, and thoughts, and in my experience, no two depressed persons are alike. I begin with a careful evaluation of what your "depression" consists of to determine what treatment would best suite your unique situation. I work with you to determine what you can do right away to start to feel better and help to make lasting changes to prevent relapses in the future.

Depression is biological, emotional and physical in nature. If you're feeling overwhelmed, or like you are paralyzed in specific areas of your life. It's easy to stop trying. Make attempts to seek out help and connect to someone in the areas that bring you shame and feelings of worthlessness. Therapy can give an opportunity to confess those thoughts, in a safe environment, in order to come out from under the shame you feel and begin to find freedom.
