Believing yourself to be garbage doesn’t make it so. We all have shortcomings and setbacks, so it’s easy to slide from, “I’m not perfect,” to, “I’m worthless.” Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy is a technique with decades of research that documents its’ effectiveness. If your depression tells you that you’re beneath contempt, we’ll check those thoughts to see if they are helpful and accurate. If they aren’t both, we’ll replace them with thoughts that are useful, while still realistic. There’s no better antidepressant than action; we’ll also concentrate on ways you can accomplish more, despite any lack of hope or energy you may feel.
