I work well with eating disorders when a person has already learned the basic skills, and is now seeking deeper insight-oriented therapy from someone knowledgeable about the special complexities eating disorders bring into a person's life. I am very interested in continuing to help people in these situations, so please don't hesitate to contact me.

My approach to eating disorders is to help with the insight. In order to have long-term success over an eating disorder, a person may not only be in a behavioral group/program, but also receive insight-oriented psychotherapy. This will allow the person to have a deep understanding of the meanings of food, their body, and many more factors that contribute to what can often be a life-long struggle. Please do not hesitate to contact me for more information.

For some people compulsive eating or dieting is just a way to get rid of bad feelings. The problem is that the bad feelings always come back. Compulsive and addictive behaviors - like obsessive and compulsive disorder, gambling, sexual addictions, eating disorders, cutting, etc. - can work very much like alcohol and substance abuse. They are ways of controlling strong emotional reactions of anxiety, anger, sadness, loneliness or guilt. I use 90-minute and 3-HOUR SESSIONS to identify and fully resolve the roots of your emotional reactions so that they no longer trigger the urge to self-medicate.
