For eating disorders, my view is that there can be different causes that fuel the problem. Is it a chemical imbalance? Is it a family problem? What's underneath the problem? Is there a deeper issue that needs to be uncovered that can create change? Who else is being affected by the disorder? How has this symptom affected the larger system? I can't say I have one technique or strategy because I believe there is more within the story that needs to be heard in order for change to occur.

We will shift from the obsessive thinking and behaviors patterns which have left little time for anything else. Contact me to discuss how counseling can work for you.

While most eating disorder issues are treated by cognitive behavioral methodologies or specialized outpatient/inpatient programs, Grey Matters International and the work of Kevin J. Fleming, PhD provide relief first and foremost for the brain of one suffering from an eating disorder----without giving them medication. We believe that the neural circuitries responsible for the compulsive behaviors with eating are not necessarily only a neurotransmitter issue but of overused neural networks that affect the harmonization, balance, and decisions of the whole brain. Contact or 877-606-6161 to learn more about this safe and effective alternative.

Eating disorders relate to interpersonal power and control dynamics in family life, and so in working with eating disordered people I do both individual psychotherapy, and strategically request that various family members participate in treatment. Often, an eating disordered person is a child of a family sytem in which boundaries have become weak, and issues that pertain to the marital system of the parents affect the mental health of the child in this way. I will help you and your family look at all these issues and work toward strengthening boundaries so that the needs to assert control in such a dangerous way remits. Learn more about my practice at
