Helping people with Eating Disorders involves getting the person to like themselves, building up their self esteem and self worth. Education is necessary to confront faulty beliefs and actions and learn about healthy lifestyles. I am empathetic and understanding, but do not like to see people deliberately harming their bodies through either denying food or eating then binging. It may take awhile, but through a good caring, client therapist rapport and relationship, and using person centered and cognitive behavioral approaches, one can recover from eating disorders and live a happy, healthy, and normal life.

I will be a part of team that works with Eating Disorders, as that has been researched to be the most successful. In using Cognitive and behavioral Interventions symptom relief can be obtained. Practicing and learning distress tolerance, and mindfulness skills from Dialectical Behavioral therapy will improve ones' success in developing a new eating routine that is more healthy and beneficial. I will also work with families, that also has been researched to add to the effectiveness of treatment.
