Helping people with Eating Disorders involves getting the person to like themselves, building up their self esteem and self worth. Education is necessary to confront faulty beliefs and actions and learn about healthy lifestyles. I am empathetic and understanding, but do not like to see people deliberately harming their bodies through either denying food or eating then binging. It may take awhile, but through a good caring, client therapist rapport and relationship, and using person centered and cognitive behavioral approaches, one can recover from eating disorders and live a happy, healthy, and normal life.
