I have been working with women who have been suffering from eating disorders, sub clinical eating issues, and body shame issues since the early 1990's when I began my career at an inpatient eating disorder / substance abuse unit in Atlanta. My approach to eating disorders and body issues is influenced by the precepts of Acceptance Commitment Therapy. I work with women in cultivating a relationship of loving kindness with the "skin they're in", regardless of weight, age or shape. Clients learn that changes in eating patterns or weight no longer need to be inspired by culturally conditioned shaming which the diet industry and media promotes

Eating disorders cover a wide range of behavior. This could be from simply eating too much to the more complex conditions of anorexia or bulimia. We have a special compassion for and an expertise in helping people that are struggling with eating disorders. Treatment plans include discipline strategies to change our thinking process about eating which results in a change of behavior. We also work with people who have experienced some type of emotional trauma which is usually a root cause of the more serious eating disorders. We work to find that root cause and not just deal with the symptoms of a condition.
