A person with an eating disorder, be it overeating, bulimia or anorexia, have core beliefs about food that need to be identified. Each client explores her/his thoughts or feelings about body image, food or weight and then we search for the core belief that maintains any negative thought patterns or behavioral responses. We evaluate how each negative thought pattern has served them in the past, then we search for alternative thoughts and behaviors to put to the test. The client will leave therapy with a greater appreciation for themselves as well as new behaviors and thoughts to help them develop a positive body and self image.
