Eating disorders are pervasive, painful and impact the entire family system. Education is paramount and collaboration with doctors and dieticians has been vital to the success I've had at beginning to help my clients get a steady footing on the path to eating disorder recovery. I use CBT, mindfulness, collaborative treatments and group therapy as well as family therapy.

Eating disorders are one of the most difficult and dangerous mental health concerns. Body image and self-esteem problems are deeply rooted in our nature/nurture interactions that they often seem unchangeable. The one area of treatment of eating disorders that I feel gets too little attention is a focus on the inner experience of the individual, rather than a focus solely on the disordered eating habits themselves. It is my goal to help a person with an eating disorder to explore the impact of relationships, both past and present, on their condition, in an effort to shine a light on what has contributed to their pain and how to relieve it.

I have extensive training in helping individuals overcome eating issues. Eating problems run deep and can be very painful and harmful. I work mainly with individuals who struggle with overeating, binging, and bulimia. Although I work mainly in individual therapy, I also think that group therapy can be beneficial as I believe that these issues are rooted in relationships and entrenched in your childhood. Although I do not strictly focus on your past, I think that understanding how you came to cope with your problems with food can help you to overcome your pain and suffering.
