Eating Disorders are examples of behaviours that need to be eliminated for most clients to feel that therapy has been successful. I often use experiential treatment, such as Gestalt empty chair techniques to have the client concretize and seperate ED from their executive self. I use many structured exercises in a custom made fashion to have the client grow in their ability, confidence and strength of their executive function. ED is a metaphor for often unconscious or subconscious material that for varied reasons is not directly resolved by the client prior to therapy.
