When a family member hurts or has a problem, the whole family can be affected. As a systemic therapist I will support the family in finding solutions which not only help the individual but assist the whole family in learning how to cope and make positive changes. Every family has strengths.Let's identify and work with those strengths to problem solve and find healthier ways of interacting.

I help families have fun again! I work from a systemic perspective where we explore how individual family members are impacting each other. Family members find that they can “open-up” and start a dialogue that will help re-build their confidence, love & respect for one another. Together, we will discuss and gain insight into communication patterns, the family’s hierarchy and whether appropriate boundaries exist. Does the entire family attend sessions each week? It all depends; I may ask to see sub-sets within the family one week, or the entire family the next. The goal is always to help the family have less conflict and more connection. Family therapy is working with the system, or the people who are present within the area of the problem. Even though a problem may be presented in one member, all members are being affected by the problem. It is the system that needs to be altered or taught how to work on communication, or interacting differently with each other. This can alter the problem. When one person changes, everyone changes.
