I' m only a student psychologist thus far reading for licensure. I wish I were a 'guidance counselor'. In order for me to accomplish this, I need to take a psych. exam given by NYS. This is what I am prepared to do. I do need to pass, possibly on the first attempt ( so I don't memorize the test). And it does require more college. I may have a ways to go,It seems .

Clients often ask me what "type" of psychotherapy I practice. The answer to that question is complicated, and is perhaps best answered by "it depends". My own belief is that different types of problems benefit the most from different types of therapy, and that a therapist who offered the same treatment for every problem would be doing his clients a disservice. With some clients I am apt to use a more "behavioral" or "cognitive" focus with an emphasis on problem-solving, adaptive coping, and altering maladaptive thought and behavioral patterns. With other clients, I may use exercises that focus on self-awareness, focus on past trauma to achieve recovery or some other form of treatment.
Konstantin Lukin, Ph.D.
20 Wilsey Square, Ridgewood, New Jersey 07450
At the Lukin Center, our team of psychologists are able to provide a full array of psychotherapy and neuropsychological assessment services. Our psychologists have received advanced training in both cognitive behavioral therapy and emotionally focused therapy. We also are able to perform psychological testing to answer clients' questions about cognitive functioning. Neuropsychological evaluations can determine if a person has problems with areas such as attention, executive functioning, or memory; can assess a person's learning style and academic potential; and can provide a diagnosis and recommendations for individualized education plans (IEPs), treatment, or other accommodations.
