My attraction to human dynamics stems from exposure to many interesting cultures and traditions, and I find that people are just incredibly multifaceted. Each individual seems to tirelessly work towards seeking their destiny ~ sometimes good, and sometimes not so good. With close to 30 years in the field of psychology, I still find it amazingly interesting, and look forward to each day at work. I love working with people, and find that people make a lot of sense. Given the conditions ~ the outcome is not surprising, Changing some conditions ~ rapidly give different outcomes. With patience, and tender love and care ~ growth is always possible. My private practice stretches over 20 years, and I am proud to say that I have a wonderful blend of...(view profile to read more)

There largely remains a stigma in our society about seeing a psychologist. Therefore, when individuals, couples, or families experience a problem, they are liable to keep it to themselves or at most, share with trusted allies. Unfortunately, there can be several limitations to doing so - we are often hesitant to share freely with even those with whom we feel close. It's here that the psychologist has something to offer: a safe, non-judgmental place where rapport can be built on confidentiality, mutual respect and sensitivity. Bringing pertinent, thorough, and efficious training, the psychologist meets the client where they're at and facilitates collaborative solutions to presenting problems.

As a Registered Psychologist, I find my work to be deeply gratifying and believe my role is to: 1) help build the structure of the therapeutic relationship which then allows for the “mystery that heals” to enter into the life of my clients; and 2) to work toward helping clients discover what interferes with the inborn desire to grow and change and by doing so, change is created, growth continued. Clients will experience relief from emotional suffering, experience increased energy for life and feel more "positive" about life.

Paul Sussman, Ph.D., L.Psych.(AB), L.Psych.(GA)
Licensed Psychologist, Alberta and Georgia
14307 - 80 Avenue, Edmonton, AB T5R 3K2
People come to see me and I try to help them through listening with compassion and speaking from the heart. I hold space for the extraordinary and I keep secrets for a living. I am no-teacher no-healer no-doctor no-therapist. I am Paul. Most of what I know about helping people I learned from the people I have helped so far. Although I have a great formal education and helpful expertise to share, when I listen to someone speak of the facts of their experience, I am listening to the world's foremost expert on the topic. If I keep my mind open, this experience is the best education humanly possible.
