I use a variety of psychotherapy theories and styles. My goal is always to get to know you and look for ways I can help you better understand and control your thinking and your behaviors/actions in your own preferred ways. We may decide to emphasize homework between sessions, coming up with self-care strategies, or understanding how early relationships have formed us.

When something in your life seems out of control ~ when a hurtful past is flooding you with anxiety or depression ~ when other feelings are overwhelming ~ when thoughts are confused and decisions are hard or made with poor judgment ~ when relationships have soured ~ my approach to psychotherapy will help you assess why, and provide the direction and tools for transforming what is in your power to change. My expertise is in helping clients overcome trauma, eating disorders and injuries from childhood, and I also specialize in working with men's issues and the challenges of being a college student. See my website for more details.

Psychotherapy takes place in a trusting relationship where creativity occurs and something new can happen. As the therapist, an important part of my role is to create a potential space in which you develop your gifts and abilities. In the relationship of psychotherapy, you can experience the present and your past in a different way. You can let go of past hurts, develop new skills, and connect with your true nature to create and embody an enlivened sense of self. I can help you do this.

Victoria Counseling Services believes that combination of psychotherapy and psychopharmacology lead to a quick recovery of mental illness. Our clients are advised to either work with their therapist or get therapy with us as they continue their psychopharmacology. The mode of therapy prescribed is based on individuals diagnosis. Cognitive behavioral therapy, Supportive therapy, and Solution Focused Therapy are some of the many therapies that are available at Victoria Counseling Services.
