I believe in the here and the now approaches to therapy, such as Reality, Person Centered, Solution Focused, and Cognitive Behavioral Therapies, however, sometimes it is beneficial to explore a client's past experiences to look at hurts, needs, behavior patterns, etc. in order to make positive changes in their current lives. The past does sometimes affect ones current behavior and attitude. It is necessary sometimes to hear a clients past to help them recover and rebuild from their hurts. To accept and let it go, realizing they are still lovable, worthwhile, and can be successful and happy. I use a thorough assessment and behavioral techniques to help validate and encourage clients.

My approach to psychotherapy involves seeing each client as unique with a very personal history. I start by getting to know you - your likes and dislikes, your relationships, how you manage your feelings, your general experiences in life. We will define the problems together, and then we will - together - define your goals for treatment. I use a client-centered approach with a strong emphasis on Rational Emotive Behavior Therapy.

I specialize in brief therapy, which is a positive form of psychotherapy. This means I help you find strengths to move towards your goals utilizing the least amount of time necessary. Many people can reduce or resolve issues in 8 to 10 sessions. Please know that very complicated issues and trauma often require longer term treatment, which I also offer. Call today to discuss how therapy might be a benefit to you.
