By looking at one’s early life with an eye to understanding how those experiences may have felt to a young child, the therapeutic process helps to develop self compassion and a broader perspective. This curious and non-judgmental process builds self-confidence and empowers the client to make desired changes. My approach to Psychotherapy is collaborative and builds on mutual trust. The therapist guides, the client travels, and together they gain clarity to strengthen the client's Sense of Self.

I use psychotherapy to help individuals address underlying sources of ongoing painful problems such as anxiety, depression, anger, and chronic problematic relationship patterns. This may include exploring past family dynamics and significant childhood events that have affected development. Increased understanding of the past can often lead to improvement in the present. I recommend tackling problems at their source because this allows the possibility of more permanent and deeper healing than can be achieved by simply addressing symptoms. As past events are gradually processed and resolved, we often feel that an emotional burden has been lifted; we just plain feel better!
