Its aim is to help people understand the thoughts behind feeling anxious or depressed and addressing these thinking patterns. Psychotherapy will help you change behaviors and habits that are limiting you, to experiencing your fullest potential.

Within my private practice, I offer individual adult psychotherapy. My approach while working with you is to see you as a unique individual. Developing a therapeutic relationship that can assist you in coming to know, learn and understand your internal world. Our internal world is made up of conscious and unconscious thoughts, feelings, fears and anxieties that do impact our external choices. My treatment approach is to help you open up more awareness of yourself internally to be able to grow more skills to care for yourself in different ways. I believe we develop symptoms when our internal selves feel stuck and unable to grow. Therapy is about fostering growth.

I work with older adolescents and adult women in Minnesota doing online counseling. I lead with empathy and seek to understand your past, your current symptoms and struggles and what you are hoping life will look like in the future. Together we will work on processing your feelings in conjunction with giving you skills that will help you cope with your current situation.

My approach to psychotherapy is to collaborate with my clients. My first goal is to understand your values, viewpoints, what you want and what you don't want. Most of us have not really put these concepts into words yet, so beginning right away, this can be very helpful. The next step is to identify the barriers in front of us. There are many approaches to psychotherapy. As a PhD psychologist and marriage–family therapist for over 28 years my approach has been highly influenced by the executive coaching and consulting work I've done in the business world where there is a high demand for results. I do a lot of work with Family of Origin. Clients can more easily change negative patterns when they understand where they came from. By examining family of origin with the intent to learn and not blame, clients can learn to live with more intention and learn to be more proactive. I use PIT and DART, as well as RLT with couples. Happiness starts with having a good relationship with ourselves.
