Carman is a small town, comprised of around 3,000 people, established in 1870.  It is also an agricultural town located in the southern province of Manitoba, and only approximately 40 minutes from Winnipeg, and only 60 kilometres from the border of the United States.  Carman is filled with cultural events even though their town is smaller.  For instance, there are different arts events held throughout the year, such as in early August there is the Winston Simpson Fiddle Festival and the Tempo Festival of the Arts in March or April.  For individuals and families caught up snares and challenges in life that seem beyond an ability to cope, counselling Carman, MB will open a doorway of hope to the potential that is within everyone to make positive and lasting change.  There are also classes given by the Association of Manitoba Music Festivals, such as vocal, choral, piano, band, and strings lessons.  For over thirty years, the Sonatrice Singers have been in existence and is Manitoba’s longest existing choral groups.  They hold a spring concert each year in May and currently led by Cindee Broeska accompanied by 40 singers.

Carman hosts one of the oldest continuously running fairs, the Carman Country Fair, which was first held in 1879.  It is hosted by the Dufferin Agricultural Society, lasting three days.  There are many different types of showcases at the fair, such as craft exhibits, livestock, plants and flowers exhibits, along with quilting and woodwork.
