Mental Health in McLean
Individuals who live with a mental illness can take advantage of educational programs and support groups offered by the Northern Virginia Chapter of the National Alliance on Mental Illness. The Fairfax County Public Schools offer a variety of advanced educational programs for students that demonstrate exceptional intellectual abilities. The Young Scholars Program nurtures potential in gifted learners by engaging them in advanced learning opportunities beginning in kindergarten and extending through the twelfth grade. High school students can enroll in Advanced Placement or International Baccalaureate courses to get the academic stimulation and challenge that they need.4 The Fairfax County Association for the Gifted (FCAG) provides further support for students who are intellectually advanced.
