Oakville merged with the neighboring villages, which were Bronte, Palermo, Sheridan and Trafalgar, enlarging the town, becoming the new Town of Oakville.  There are 12 different communities within the town.  They are Old Oakville, Bronte, Eastlake, Clearview, College Park, Iroquois Ridge North and South, Glen Abbey, Palermo, River Oaks, Uptown Core and West Oak Trails.  Old Oakville is the original settlement and is located along the shore of Lake Ontario, while Bronte is also located along the shore of Lake Ontario it is located in the southwest portion of the lake.  As you look to work towards change, Christian counseling is a great choice for help.  Eastlake, as its name refers, is located along the southeast shore of Lake Ontario.  The other communities in Oakville have specific boundaries, such as between Upper Middle Road and Dundas Street, as Iroquois Ridge North is located.  Oakville’s Planning Department officially divided the town into these communities, which are based on the traditional neighborhoods, rather than having to do with politics.1

Current Education

Currently in Oakville there are many schools that offer psychology and counseling programs for those who would like to work in a profession helping others maintain good mental health and a healthy lifestyle. Sheridan College, located in Oakville, offers both full-time and part-time programs in social services, child and youth work, and community work which all contribute to the mental health of the community.
