The Gift of Dreaming:  Transforming the Mundane into the Sacred
at Royal Roads University

An unexamined dream is like an unopened letter -Maimonides
For those interested in personal growth and transformational experiences, dreams are a valuable and powerful tool. They can be a magical and even mystical experience. When we have a vital, authentic relationship with our dreams, we become more of who we are meant to be. Life takes on a richer sense of meaning as we honour the mystery of our own journey.

Communication with dreams enriches our lives, releases feelings and somatic blockages, and gives us a deeper relationship with Life and with our loved ones. This workshop is for anyone who has ever been curious about their dreams and who would like to have an alive, vital relationship with their inner world/soul. For those who don’t remember their dreams, we will explore other ways of accessing the symbols and imagery of dreams.

The workshop is NOT about dream interpretation. Rather, the objective is to teach participants how to work with their own dreams in a way that facilitates and embodies ongoing personal growth and guidance where the dreamer allows the dream to work them. Participants will be encouraged to keep a dream journal.

Topics :
• The individuation process
• Types of dreams eg, nightmares, elimination, warning
• Structure, characters, animals and symbols
• Jungian concepts: shadow/persona, anima/animus, collective unconscious, ego/archetype
• Left/right brain processes
• Making associations
• Connecting dream images to inner dynamics
• Making a unified message from the connections
• Using ritual to integrate and transform
• Jung’s “active imagination”, dialogues and creating waking dreams
