Consultation group for psychotherapists
This consultation group is specifically for people who work in community clinics or settings. My intent is to create a confidential, supportive and safe space in which you can talk with trust in one another, and so deepen in your work. The group will initially meet for 8 weeks, hopefully then becoming an ongoing group. Group size 4 - 8 people.
My approach is psychodynamic, with attention to systems dynamics and cultural contexts. My intent is to support you in being able to think in depth about your work regardless of the frequency you see your patients, or the nature of your work with them (case-management, social work, group or individual psychotherapy). The first meeting will be for introductions, setting the frame, and to give you an idea of how I facilitate the group and consult. Following meetings will be focussed on case-presentations with time for reflective questions and discussions. If participants are interested in adding readings to the process perhaps on themes that are coming up, some time will be given for that also. You could bring in papers that interest you, and I can also provide many papers on various aspects of treatment.
I have supervised and consulted for trainees, interns, post-docs, and staff/licensed clinicians since 2003. I currently supervise for both the Access Institute in SF, and the Wright Institute in Berkeley. In addition to my private practice, I worked for many years in community mental health in San Francisco, both as a psychotherapist and clinical supervisor. I have taught clinical theory and practice at graduate and post-graduate level, and led a year-long case-consultation group. I worked for many years in a multicultural clinic and training center, in which cultural respect was foundational.
