Yonkers New York is located in the southeastern most corner of the state, just north of Manhattan and bordering New York City and The Bronx. However, its big city appeal is not the only means of entertainment. The Yonkers Raceway is considered one of the city's landmarks and was first established in the 1899. After overcoming much adversity, such as lack of interest and fire code violations that forced the revocation of its racing license, the raceway today is now a popular destination. Not only is Yonkers Raceway a track for harness racing, it is also the video-lottery terminal, thus earning it the term racino (racing track and casino combined). For a more cultural adventure, the city's famous Hudson River Museum is a culturally and aesthetically enriching attraction. Although famed for its arts, the museum also houses exhibits that offer perspective into the area's history. The museum's own planetarium embarks in the opposite direction and introduces a show that allows its participants to journey half a century into the future. 1
