Counseling Mission Viejo

Mission Viejo's complex geography of steep hills means that it is one of the most recent areas to be urbanized in Orange County. Historically, the area was used for cattle crazing, but as demand for new homes rose throughout the 1970s, the area was developed and thousands of new homes and roads were built. The city enjoys a mild climate, similar to what is found in the Mediterranean. It's proximity to the Pacific Ocean means that cool breezes often blow through and that the excitement of the beach is just a short drive away. Many recreational activities are available in the area and provide families with many opportunities to have fun in the great Southern California sun.1

About 18,000 residents of Mission Viejo suffer from a diagnosable mental disorder, while over 4,000 individuals struggle with a severe mental disorder that prevents them from functioning at an optimal level.2

Materials are available for family, friends and other loved ones as well. Current Initiatives

Low income residents of Orange County can partake in the Medical Services Initiative program, which seeks to make medical and mental health services more accessible. This new program provides comprehensive benefits including mental health, medical, prescription drugs, and dental benefits. Advocates work on behalf of patients to ensure proper care is received. A 24-hour nurse hotline is available for those who have medical related questions. Walk-in clinics throughout Orange County participate in the program and offer basic medical and mental health assessments without an appointment.
