Current Initiatives

The Kansas Mental Health Initiative is a statewide program to improve access to and delivery of mental health services to the state's most vulnerable populations. In particular, the initiative targets substance use, which serves to make mental health problems worse. To help communities address substance use issues, the initiative will fund prevention and intervention programs to reduce the use of alcohol and drugs, particularly among the state's poor residents. These programs will also aim to strengthen families through educational and outreach programs that build skills for independence and self-reliance. Contact the Kansas Office of the Governor at 785-368-7138 for more detailed information about the initiative.5
