The Siblings Support Group seeks to build skills that help brothers and sisters understand the symptoms of autism, while helping them deal with the emotions they have about their sibling's condition. The group meets once each month to share resources, lend support, provide guidance, and discuss obstacles that ADD presents to reaching one's potential. Group members can also attend workshops with mental health experts to learn more about the disorder and devise strategies to better manage their symptoms.4

Current Initiatives

The Coordinated Children's Services Initiative is an ongoing effort by all five of New York City's boroughs to develop a comprehensive system of care for the city's mentally ill children. Working with the Citywide Oversight Committee and city councils from the five boroughs, the initiative seeks to organize services for children who display serious and persistent mental illnesses, emotional disturbances, and other behavioral health issues.
