Hi! My name is Andrew, Executive Director at Alongside You, and I believe real change is possible. To give you an idea of my professional credentials and experience, I am a Registered Clinical Counsellor with the BC Association of Clinical Counsellors (BCACC RCC#3404). In addition to being Executive Director of Alongside You, I also co-founded Cedar Springs Counselling, a non-profit counselling centre in Richmond, BC and am a Clinical Faculty member in the Department of Psychiatry at the University of British Columbia
At Alongside You, our practice and approach is build upon the foundational belief that anyone can change. We are passionate about our clients, and work hard with them toward their goals. We enjoy working with clients from many different backgrounds and have extensive experience working with individuals, couples, and families who are struggling and are looking to invest in their own future and those of their loved ones. Our therapists have worked in both a private practice setting as well as in inpatient and outpatient hospital settings and am very comfortable with the wide range of mental illness and relationship issues and welcome any clients struggling with mild to severe mental health or relationship issues. We only ask that clients want to move forward.
We've been told by our clients that we are able to help them feel welcome and at ease from the start of therapy. This is the best complement we can hope to receive. While therapy is not always a pleasant process, it should be a safe process, and we hope that our offices are a place that everyone is able to feel safe. Our clients benefit from our extensive experience, our ability to see potential for change, and our ability to see beyond their struggle, to the core of who they are and help them become who they want to be going forward. We believe in therapy skills and interventions that are backed by research, shown to be effective, and show results that are tangible. To achieve this, we use a variety of modalities, including Emotion Focused Therapy (EFT), Gottman Method Couples Therapy, Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT), and an integration of Mindfulness and Neurofeedback tools to build acceptance and coping skills.
If you want to move forward, I believe that we can help you. We also believe in affordable care and adjust fees based on income. While our offices are in Richmond, BC and Ladner, BC, we available worldwide via secure videoconference using If you think that we could be of help to you, please do give us a call. If after we talk, you or your counsellor don't believe it's the best fit, we will gladly refer you to another professional within our clinics, or one outside our walls. The quality of care you receive and your seeing the benefits of therapy are our top priority, whether it is with us, or someone else.

Scott’s practice is very collaborative, the development of a good working relationship that enables both parties to agree upon the issues to be addressed and the goals that therapy is working towards are very important. Katie is registered with the College of Dietitians of British Columbia and a member of Dietitians of Canada. Katie’s passion is taking the science of nutrition and turning it into practical advice that her clients can use in their everyday lives to reach their health and nutrition goals. Katie has also completed additional training to help people who struggle with food cravings, emotional eating, boredom eating, stress eating, etc. Through her years of nutrition counselling, Katie has learned that sometimes the struggle is not learning what we should be eating, but rather implementing these changes in our lives. This is where these additional strategies to manage cravings and emotional eating can really help, and is an area Katie is very passionate about. Katie enjoys cooking (of course!), running, spending time with her friends and family and cuddling her adorable bunny, Caprice.
