I am happy to help you whether you are in crisis and transition, dealing with violence in your life, or feeling confused about what you are going through. There are many ways to approach tackling life's most complex concerns and I am confident I can help. It takes courage to reach out and share what is most important to you. Usually, the desire for meaning, fulfilling work, and good relationships are a focus in therapy.
I have been in private practice since 2008 and believe in a total approach to compassionate care. I have seen people make important changes in their lives through exploration of their emotional life, personal history, and relationships. I have enjoyed providing professional help which gives people the time, structure, and space to talk about confidential matters, explore deeper thoughts, and recall aspects of their lives that help them understand why they do what they do. I have also provided supportive care for those going through difficult medical decisions, such as dealing with cancer and chronic pain. When you can trust your counselor to be there for you, you can feel more grounded in the decisions you make.
I have special expertise in helping trauma survivors. Many people have gone through painful childhood experiences that are difficult to talk about and sometimes difficult to remember though there has been a profound and lasting impact of these experiences on their lives. The process of working through is often lengthy and ongoing with a general progression of emotional well-being.
In working with Police Officers, Firefighters, and other First Responders there are many different concerns, such as the impact of this work on family life, the problem of separation of work life and family life, dealing with death, the public, and continuing to function with the best performance on the job, as well as exposure to environmental toxins or work injuries.
I have also appreciated being able to work with combat war veterans, veterans who have experienced Military Sexual Trauma, and those attempting to secure benefits and need professional help as they go through this process. I have worked with veterans from WWII forward to the present time, Army, Navy, Marines, Air Force, Coast Guard, and Reserves. Thank you all for what you do. I am happy to help with my special expertise with these concerns.
