Thank you for taking the time to visit my profile. I love the work that I do, and am continually humbled to be a part of such important journeys in people’s lives. If you choose to work with me, I commit to providing you compassionate, high quality, and ethical care. To help you make this important decision, here's a little about me and the work I do:
I am a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist and received my training at Bethel Seminary in St. Paul, MN. My family and I moved "back home" to Minnesota late summer of 2015 after being in Michigan for 10 years. While we miss the unique beauty of Northern Michigan, it’s wonderful to be close to family again and we couldn't be happier! Even though my degree is "Marriage and Family," that doesn't mean those are the only clients I see. I see plenty of individual clients as well. I have worked with individuals (young children all the way through the elderly), couples, families and also groups. I have developed a passion for working with committed relationships and do so using tenets of Imago Therapy and Emotion-Focused Therapy. I see great potential for healing within the core relationships in our lives.
It is very important to me that in my practice I am free to go to people, to meet them where they are at not only spiritually and emotionally, but also geographically - and will do so within the Greater St. Paul/Minneapolis Area. I have found that for many individuals and families, there simply are too many barriers present for them to make it to an office for therapy. For many others, engaging in mental health treatment in the comfort of your own living room is particularly appealing and convenient. For these reasons, I have chosen to primarily travel to my clients’ homes for therapy. With that said, some people are more comfortable meeting out of their home - and that is just fine! I do hold office hours one day a week. I have had sessions in coffee shops, lawn chairs outside, on a walk, along beaches, or in a pasture with horses. With horses you ask? Yes, with horses! I am certified to provide EAGALA (Equine Growth and Learning Association) Model Equine Assisted Counseling. This is a collaborative effort between a licensed therapist and a horse professional working with the clients and horses to address treatment goals. It is highly effective, and appropriate for all ages, individuals, families and groups who present with a wide variety of challenges in life. So yes, I will even see my clients at a ranch! On a side note, there is no riding, and no experience with horses is necessary - you don’t even have to like them! They are so good at their job, and are some of my favorite co-therapists! For those desiring a more traditional setting, I do see clients in an office as well.
Additionally, I am an approved facilitator of Parenting the Love and Logic Way™. I have offered groups in churches and elementary schools, and would be happy to offer one for you! I traditionally do this in a group format, but could also teach the highly effective method individually or with your parenting partner.
If you would like to know more about the services I provide, or are wondering if I might be able to help you, please don’t hesitate to call. Blessings on your journey! ~Anna
