 About Anu Lala
Anu Lala (B.Sc, RCAT, RP) has been working as Registered Psychotherapist and Registered Art Therapist for the past 23 years. Alongside having a Private Practice she has worked with a variety of populations in an array of social service organizations.
After completing her graduate level thesis in  Art Therapy and Mental Illness through The Centre for Addiction and Mental Health she initially she began working in Psychiatric research at Mount Sinai hospital. Over the years her work has slowly evolved through diverse experience. While working in the hospital she also began developing and facilitating Art Therapy programs and groups for women and children in shelter settings. She spent a few years working at Redwood shelter doing groups with women and children fleeing abuse. This work further led her to work with children through the Toronto Board of Education dealing with emotional or behavioural issues.
Although she has built a wide range of skills working with a variety of populations, much of her work has been in Community Mental Health. She has spent the past 20 years woking as a Psychotherapist with women facing a multitude of issues most predominantly Trauma, Depression, Anxiety, and Abuse. Her specialized skills in the area of diversity has allowed her to broaden her path by publishing her work (in a Chapter on Art therapy with Diverse populations) and teach graduate students at The Toronto Art Therapy Institute where she also is faculty member for the Distance Learning Program.
Most recently, in 2015 she had the opportunity to work in the field of Cancer and Art Therapy at Sunnybrook Hospital.
While working in the field of Psychotherapy she continues to evolve as a therapist by incorporating new areas of interest and enhancing and updating her skills and experience.
Registered Art Therapist
Anu Lala is a Registered Art Therapist who has graduate level training in the specialized field of Art Therapy.  Art therapy is a unique form of therapy which facilitates self-expression through the use of Art. Emotions, thoughts, and wishes are expressed symbolically through the creation of personal images and objects. The Art which is produced becomes a source of communication through which one can reflect upon and work through areas of conflict and distress.
Anu Lala has been an Art Therapist for 23 years.  Art Therapy combines creative expression and verbal exploration to enhance the Psychotherapy process.
Despite having so many diverse work opportunities, the majority of her work has been doing individual and group, psychotherapy and art therapy in Community Mental Health in Toronto where she has been for almost 20 years.
