Everyone has life struggles. We would not be human if we didn't. Sometimes we all need help navigating the challenges in life. If you are struggling with chronic stress, anxiety, illness/chronic illness (or family member with illness), marital/relationship problems, grief, depression, aging issues, career change, or any other major life transition then counseling can be a great first step toward making positive and lasting changes in your life.
I graduated from Baylor University in 1998 with a Bachelor's in Psychology and St. Mary's University with a Master's in Marriage and Family Therapy in 2000. I am both a Licensed Professional Counselor and Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist. I began seeing clients in 2000 and spent over a decade working with individuals, couples, and families in an inpatient setting. I found a passion in those years of experience working with adult and older adult individuals, couples, and families on a wide variety of issues.
Research has shown that the number one predictor of success in psychotherapy is the relationship between the client/s and therapist. Initial sessions should give clients a fairly good idea if the therapist they are seeing is a good fit for them. I offer 90 minute initial sessions toward this purpose, and for me to get a fairly full assessment, at the same cost as all follow-up sessions. Please contact me with any other questions about my approach or clarifications about how therapy works. I understand that it is difficult to make the first contact for therapy, and that this may be unfamiliar territory for you. It is very familiar territory for me, and I hope that I can help guide you through the process and set your mind at ease.
