At Bring to Balance and Art for Change, we have four wonderful counsellors to support you. We invite you to read their bios.

1. Meet Camillia!   Camillia M. MA, BA, CCC

I am originally a prairie girl from Edmonton Alberta. After exploring the world of blacksmithing and farrier work I realized I was being called towards a different path. I wanted to help others heal their conscious and unconscious wounds, and to find meaning in what can often feel like a meaningless world. I came to the coast with my horse and my dog in 2016 and haven’t looked back since!

Dream exploration and connection are important elements of my therapeutic practice, both with clients and with myself. I discovered the power of dream exploration through my own experience in Jungian analysis back in Edmonton. I knew that dream exploration and depth work was important from my own experience, and I wanted to find a way to make that journey more accessible.

When I entered into the masters of counselling psychology-art therapy program at Adler University I discovered how to help facilitate the depth process. Art, in all its forms, allows the internal to become external. Through verbal discussion, dream exploration, and art-making I was able to help clients connect to themselves, to others, and to their world in a way that was empowering and accessible. I believe it is my calling to respectfully hold the stories of clients, and to help them connect on a deeper level in order to live a more meaningful and joyful life.

2. Meet Janine!  Janine M. R. MA, BA, BCATR, RCC

Janine is a professional Art Therapist and a Registered Clinical Counsellor with a Master degree in the field. While she has been practicing for five years, her main credentials are from living with low moods, big emotions, unhelpful thoughts, stress and worries.

Janine struggled in self-confidence, self-acceptance, relationships, school, career, and the ups and downs of day-to-day life. Every day was painful to get through, and stress and worry seemed consuming. After working on herself and coming through the struggle, she found greater awareness, ease, understanding, presence, and a desire to help others.

To assist in her own healing, Janine found certain counseling modalities useful for easing suffering and that allowed for increased levels of joy and contentment: Mindfulness, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, and Existential Therapy. These approaches work for many of her clients, and many individuals can experience relief in around 6-12 sessions. Janine welcomes new clients and uses online modalities to serve individuals no matter where they are- physically, emotionally, and spiritually.

As a practicing artist, Janine understands the profound healing potential and positive change that can result from accessing creativity and artistic sensibility. Activities such as journal writing, in conjunction with the therapeutic relationship, can provide us with a means of healthy expression and allow us to explore, feel, and grow. Janine offers a focused, yet gentle, approach where a combination of art making and discussion can be used to meet the specific needs of the client. 3. Meet Linda!  Linda L., MA, BA, CCC

Linda is a Registered Clinical Counsellor, Canadian Certified Counsellor and a Professional Art Therapist. Her speciality in mental health work is working with adolescents and adults who struggle with disordered eating, anxiety and body image concerns.

Linda is a mental health advocate for her clients so that they can build trust in their intuition, cope with the waves of emotional disturbances and embrace creativity during the healing journey. She deeply values showing up and coming closer to our struggles as this has been her journey in coping and learning more about her social anxiety, managing perfectionism, and continuously reflecting and dismantling cultural beliefs (eg. diet culture) to heal her relationship with her body.

She is clinically trained in Eye Movement Desensitization Reprocessing Therapy, Eating Disorder Intuitive Therapy Levels 1 and 2, and a Gottman Level 1 Certified Couples Counsellor to help you gain insight. All of her clients have the option to add on Art Therapy if they would like.  She is available both in-person and online for sessions.

She offers a trauma-informed, intersectional, and bio-psycho-social perspective in therapy and can help you find creative ways to express what you are going through. The clients who work with her learn to become more aware of their automatic coping behaviours (how they respond to overwhelm), notice the limiting beliefs that are holding them back, and discover an ever-growing set of coping strategies that will help them get through difficult times.

Every person who comes in the room has unique stories and lived experiences they bring in, so Linda orients therapy depending on your needs. You can expect a genuine, non-judgemental, compassionate and individualized approach when you are with Linda. By working one-on-one with her, you will have the support to process your concerns, reconnect with your intuition and will begin to embody who you truly are.
