Are you ready to have a more choiceful, authentic, and integrated life? Have you been
feeling stuck and unsure of how to move forward? Are you feeling disconnected
from yourself, from your body and from others? Are you looking for practicable
skills to help you have the life you want? I can help. Through our somatic or
body-based work together, we will work to clarify your values and then align
your actions with those values so that you can be your whole, most true self.

When we work through the body, we allow access to the full depth of our knowledge andwisdom. I believe that the body is fundamentally a domain of action, mood,
learning, coordination and dignity. Through our bodies we learn to sense others
and the environment around us. We learn to express moods and emotions. We
generate interpretations and beliefs. We interpret experiences that have
occurred historically and we take action towards a future that we get to decide
for ourselves and with the people we care about.

There is a growing body of scientific knowledge that supports a body-based approach tohealing and change. One study suggested that only 30% of how we interpret an
interaction with someone else can be explained by words or verbal cues and 70%
of our interpretation is based off of reading the other person's body. Other
research has found that there are proteins related to particular emotions found
not just in the brain, but throughout the body in the gut and in the heart,
suggesting an integrated relationship between mind and body. This science is
helpful and reinforces information we all know at some level. Think about
expressions such as “heartache,” “gut reaction, ” or “butterflies in my
stomach.” These are based off of very real and sense-based experiences in our

When we have more connection with our bodies, we often feel that we have more choiceand agency in the world. We start to feel ease and more ability to be with what
is in our lives, including the difficult things. We meet the challenges of
life, in a more open, present, connected and authentic way. This is what I want
for you.

In our work together, you will develop a deep felt sense of yourself, what it is thatyou care about and what you long for. This might involve exploring, through
your body what hasn’t been working for you and how your current or historical
way of being in the world is keeping you from the life you want. We will
explore how your current embodiment has either supported or kept you from
having safety, dignity, and belonging. Our work will also involve practices
that will help you to embody new skills that are in line with what you care
about. We are always practicing something, so why not practice towards aligning
your actions with your values?

The dominant narrative around therapy has often focused on what is wrong with us, or the idea that we are sick. I offer a different paradigm. Instead, we will start from where you are and what you want out of life.
However, I enjoy and have received extensive training working in the following areas:
  • body image
  • disordered eating
  • emotional eating
  • trauma and the impact of racial and gender-based violence
  • gender identity
  • sexuality
  • relationship skills and communication including non-traditional relationships
I work with individuals and relationships of all configurations. Please contact me to schedule your free 30 minute consultation and to begin moving towards more choice, more aliveness and more ease in your life.
