Counselling is a relationship between two or more actively participating parties. The client is an expert on themselves, and the counsellor is an expert on helping. We work together to create a unique treatment plan to ensure the client reaches their goals. My aim is to help my clients resolve their emotional distress and find tools to take control of their emotions. Accountability is at the core of my practice. For that reason, I only use therapeutic approaches that have been proven effective and empirically validated.

I am a Registered Clinical Counsellor (RCC) with a Masters of Counselling Psychology Degree (MCP). My work with clients focuses on helping them resolve feelings that are weighing them down. Left unresolved, these feelings often lead to negative thoughts and feelings, anxiety, anger, and difficult interpersonal relationships. If we can work together to get the root of the problem, I can help you to breathe easier and live more freely.

I am committed to making quality counselling accessible.  Sessions are offered on evenings and weekends to accommodate work and school schedules. I have experienced in treating clients with a wide variety of concerns including trauma, depression, grief, suicide, anxiety and more.

Counselling can be helpful in resolving emotional distress. This can include, but is not limited to:
  • Feeling lost and confused about their role in the world
  • Feeling increasingly sad or depressed
  • Worried, anxious, or fearful
  • Stress or overwhelmed
  • Feeling unhappy, unfulfilled, or dissatisfied with life
  • Anybody feeling as if they are not good enough or falling short in their own or others eyes
  • Feeling alone
  • Feeling like life is not worth living or that you have nothing to offer the world
  • Feeling disrespected and frustrated
  • Wishing that you could be more assertive
  • Feeling disconnected from the important people in your life

My practice is called Patronus Counselling. The word Patronus is a Latin word with origins in ancient Roman society.  A Patronus was a person who acted as a sponsor, protector, and benefactor.  More recently this term has been popularized by J. K. Rowling's Harry Potter series.  In this series, a Patronus is used to protect the individual from a creature that causes the person to relive their worst memory resulting in the feelings of intense emotional distress and despair.  The Patronus is created out of the person's happiest memory pulling on the creator's strengths to protect them.  I chose this name because I believe it is the perfect metaphor for counselling.  It is my job as the counsellor to help the client find the strengths and resources within themselves to overcome their emotional distress whether that is depression, anxiety, trauma, or any other mental health concerns.

I understand how difficult it can be to ask for help, I will do my best to provide a safe and comfortable space for you to unburden yourself. I offer a limit number of spots for clients who cannot afford to pay full rates. Contact me for a 30 minute free consultation for more information.
