 Rooted Hearts Counseling LLC

You feel alone, invisible, and unimportant, like the person you love is rarely there for you emotionally: so you pursue your partner and even have occasional outbursts just to try to get through to them. You feel overwhelmed, like no matter what you do it is never good enough to please the person you love: so you defend yourself, shut down, or turn away in your relationship. You feel frustrated and stuck. You are exhausted from feeling misunderstood, fighting over the same issues over and over again. You feel depressed and anxious, and the problems in your relationship seem to make it worse.
I have also experienced the highs and lows of relationships with parents, friends, and wife for the past 36 years. Through my personal journey and journeying with people the past 8 years in counseling I have learned that: It is in relationships that our heart is wounded; and it is in relationships that our heart is healed.

As an expert relationship counselor, I help you thrive in connection. Whether it is a relationship with your partner, child, parent, friend, or God, my goal is to help you not just get along, but to enjoy being together.  I come alongside you in this journey. I help you figure out where you were at, where you are now, and where you want to go with your relational issues. You are ultimately in the driver’s seat and I am your guide to help you get there, while helping you notice important things along the way.  My approach is empathic and gentle, yet directive.  In our sessions, I create space for you to just be. I help you identify, explore, and own what you are experiencing. Your emotions are validated. An emotionally safe environment is established for you to connect with your emotions and those of the person you care about.

Most counselors agree that couples counseling is one of the hardest things to do well.  You deserve a competent counselor that gives you the best treatment available.  Emotionally Focused Couples Therapy (EFT) is one of the most effective researched based way to treat couples in distress as EFT gets to the heart of what couples need: a close and safe connection where you can find support and comfort from each other.        I specialize in EFT. I will help you identify and change negative patterns or cycles that repeat in your relationship. The result is to feel secure, connected, comforted, close, supported, esteemed, and validated, like the other "gets" us. EFT works, I have seen injuries in relationships heal and distant couples get connected.  Studies of couples receiving Emotionally Focused Couples Therapy show that 70 to 73% of couples reported recovery from relationship distress and 86% reported significant improvement and these positive results continued years after therapy ended.           I know how big of a step it is to invest money, time, and energy for therapy. It can be scary to trust someone with the most important things in your life: your relationships and your emotions. I strive to provide exceptional value and quality of service because I care deeply about those who feel broken and hurt.  You want the best for your relationships. I get it. You would want to have the best person you can find to do your open heart surgery. Too much is at stake. It is a life or death matter and your relationships are not much different. Your heart, and the heart of the one whom you love, matters.
