Hello, my name is Casey Paul, and I work at Truth for Life Counselling Centre. My areas of focus for the past seven years has been working with youth and trauma. My belief is that relational bonds with intimate partners, family, and family of choice are very important for our wellbeing and support networks. I encourage reconciliation, empathy, and exploration into the family dynamics that have shaped family relationships. These dynamics have the potential to create our deepest hurts in life but can also provide the greatest opportunity for hope, meaning, and belonging.

I work from a holistic perspective that connects the mind, body, and soul. I also believe in working from a practical perspective – the goals that are most relevant to you and your unique circumstance. I have experience working with clients in areas of: PTSD/Trauma, Anxiety/Stress/Burnout, Family Issues, Parenting, Issues in the Workplace/Returning to Work, Relational Issues, Addiction, Reconciliation, Forgiveness, and Depression.
Being passionate about working with individuals and families from diverse backgrounds, cultures, and experiences, I welcome clients from all walks of life and I work hard to cultivate a safe environment for all identities and relationships.

In my current practice, I see individuals, couples, and family members.  There are benefits in working with these different family/partner options, and I am flexible to begin working with an individual and add relevant relationships, or we might begin with a couple, and decide that the work at this point would be better focused on one partner.  This flexibility has enabled me to have goals that better reflect what my clients are needing at that point.

My professional experience began working with youth with complex trauma.  I have volunteered with various nonprofit agencies, working with vulnerable populations.  I believe that my perspective has vastly changed through direct contact in working with individuals from different backgrounds. My greatest achievement in the helping field has been the professional relationships that I have made with many clients and peers.  I strive to connect with anyone whom I am meeting with in a way that makes them feel like they can be themselves, free of judgement.

My graduate degree is a Masters of Marriage and Family Therapy from Capella University. This followed my BA in Conflict Resolution from the University of Winnipeg. I received my internship through Truth for Life Counselling Centre, under the supervision of Founder and Lead Psychotherapist, Mary-Ann Roy. I am currently a Certified Counselor with the Association of Canadian Counseling and Psychotherapy Association.
