I am a British post-graduate Marriage and Family Therapist Registered Intern with a BA in Psychology from University of Sussex in England and a Master’s degree in Marriage and Family Counseling from University of Florida. I subsequently worked for the leading national charity for single parent families in England and Wales for ten years. I am also a qualified life coach and mediator.
I am a married mother of two, so I have an understanding of the challenges and demands (as well as the joys) that parenthood can bring.
I am friendly, positive, informal and down-to-earth, but also focused on, serious about and committed to helping my clients get the results they are looking for.
My approach "My therapeutic approach is positive and strength-based – I support my clients to draw on their inner resources and build on their strengths to help them move forward to where they want to be."
I am naturally a positive person and I like to work in a positive way as a team with my clients, helping them to gain clarity of their circumstances, then working together to come up with different perspectives, ideas, tools and strategies to help them make the changes they want in their lives. I most frequently use Cognitive Behavioral Therapy with individuals and The Gottman Method with couples. I do my best work with clients who are motivated and want change. At the same time, I understand that starting therapy can be daunting and confusing and I don't expect everyone to come to therapy ready and raring to go! I am fully respectful of my clients' desires and pace and don't see myself as the expert on what will or won't work for my clients.
