For the past 7 years I have dedicated my life to improving the psychological health of families including adults, adolescents and children in the Greater Los Angeles Area. My expertise is with children, adolescents, adults and their families who present with various mental disorders (i.e., mood, anxiety; behavioral), addiction and history of trauma. I also provide in-depth support for parents via one-on-one coaching or facilitation of parental groups on various behavioral interventions. As a therapist, it is important for me to educate and coach the primary caregivers on the best practices shown to improve behaviors in children, as the parent is the primary teacher of the child.
My skills and experience has allowed me to deal with various diverse cultures who are reluctant to seek treatment due to stigma. Having been raised as Armenian and Greek, I have experienced the multicultural and societal pressures firsthand. In the face of a person experiencing a challenging life event , even the most competent person may need extra support or guidance. Everyone has problems and there is no shame in seeking help. It is my goal to create a safe environment for you to navigate through issues of acculturation, familial problems, shame, and feelings of inadequacy. I offer a service that will allow you to become more self-aware, create and sustain loving relationships with others, and assist you feeling more fulfilled.
Furthermore, I believe having patience, moving to client’s paste, agenda, and understanding the client in the context of their lives is the key. My strengths are my ability to transcend into my clients world without any bias or discrimination. It is in the authentic therapeutic-client relationship that change occurs as one is guided to self reflect and explore . Hence, therapeutic alliance and unconditional positive regard is one of the most important tools for both the therapist and the client. Communicating genuineness is critical to establishing trust.
