Thank you for visiting this site.  I extend a warm welcome to those who would like to find out more about me and are considering starting therapy.  Whether your relationship is in trouble, or you need individual help and support, I am committed to listening to your situation in a nonjudgmental way that will allow you to feel safe and supported throughout the entire process of therapy.
I am a Marriage & Family Therapist.  I provide compassionate couples, individual and family therapy.  I work with  all individuals and couples regardless of sexual orientation, race or religion.
The model I use most frequently with couples is Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT), which was created by Dr. Susan Johnson.  This model has been the focus of many studies over the past 20 plus years and the findings are impressive.  The research highlights the reality that EFT really works: couples that go through the process report that their bond has been restored 75% of the time, and the change is lasting (and 90% of couples report improvement in their relationship).  Additionally, EFT has been shown to work for all couples, regardless race, religion, national origin or sexual orientation.
In working with individuals, one of the approaches I use is EMDR Therapy.  When done with therapist that takes their time and ensures that a  trusting and a safe environment is developed, EMDR Therapy can be transforming  and bring significant change and the positive outcome you desire.  It is an effective treatment for many conditions including Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD), depression, anxiety, and addictions.  For people suffering with these conditions, EMDR Therapy offers real hope.
There are a number of important reasons I am drawn to EFT an EMDR Therapy.  First, they are approaches that have been shown in clinical studies to really work effectively in fostering lasting change.   It is important for me to be able to help my clients attain the positive outcomes that they are striving for and the approaches used are a integral part of the healing process.  Secondly, for therapy work well, a deep and trusting relationship needs to develop between between the therapist and and their client(s).  Fostering this type of attuned and compassionate relationship is one of the key skills that I have developed in my many years of dealing with people in high levels of distress, so doing EFT and EMDR Therapy have come very naturally to me.
I am a member of the American Association of Marriage and Family Therapy and the Pennsylvania Association of Marriage and Family Therapy.   I am also a member  of ICEEFT - The International Centre for Excellence in Emotionally Focused Therapy and the Philadelphia Center for Emotionally Focused  Therapy.  I have received my Basic Certification from EMDRIA (EMDR International Association).
I have a private Practice in Downingtown, PA, in the center of Chester County, in an accessable location.  .
Please give me a call and we can start to discuss the issues that are leading you to consider therapy.  I understand that this can be a difficult step, and I offer a free 15 minute phone consultation to answer your questions and so you can get a better sense of me and see if we would be a good fit.
