I love being a licensed professional counselor specializing in Individual, Marriage, Couple and Family Counseling. In private practice since 2006 in the St. Charles County, Greater St. Louis area, Missouri, I feel humbled and privileged to be able to sit with people during some of their most difficult days and times and help them reach their goals.  Every person and family I know has issues, and as people sort out and resolve life issues, they feel better and happier and function and relate better.
One of  the most common needs people have is to have a safe place to be able to sort things out.  Imagine your issues and emotional struggles and family conflicts getting thrown into a bag and all jumbled up together.  The counseling experience is like taking that very private bag of struggles and hurts and beginning the process of sorting through it with faint hope that something can be done to fix or resolve it. As people feel emotionally supported, respected, listened to, as well as receive an honest and objective viewpoint, hope begins to grow.  By collaborating, problems can be addressed and options offered with individualized, practical solutions and tools.
Not only am I licensed by the State of Missouri as an LPC (Licensed Professional Counselor), I have two degrees from Covenant Theological Seminary in St. Louis, Missouri.  In 2007, I graduated with a Master of Arts in Counseling, and a Master of Arts in General Theology in 2001.   My Counseling Internship and Supervison was with Carol Yeager, MA, LPC of Associated Counselors of West County from 2006-2010.

My philosophy of therapy is (CBT) Cognitive Behavior Therapy, which simply states that how you think affects how you feel, and how you feel affects what you do.  Just like, "You are what you eat is true," it is also true that "You are what you think."   So it is very helpful to become aware of any type of thinking disorders, like mind reading or always focusing on the negative, or blaming, for example.
In addition, because counseling is solution focused, counseling is relatively a short time.  Counseling is also Christian-based as many people believe their faith is very important to them.
"I feel ecstatic now!  Things are not as horrid as I thought since I'm talking to you!"
"We would not be able to have this conversation at home as we'd be fighting.  But in here, we were both able to talk."
"We are not fighting as much now!"
"We are resolving things much quicker now!"
"Deanna, you're like a rock.  I feel I can tell you anything and it will be okay."
"I feel I learned a lot through worksheets and ways to identify why, what and how.  I feel a lot better because I feel there's hope for me!"
"I was afraid to come to counseling.  I've never met anyone who has this problem.  I have felt embarrassed, guilty and ashamed!  Things people have said to me when I get haircuts...But you have made me feel comfortable.  You have given me resources."
"Sometimes I think, 'What would Deanna do?'"
