Therapeutic Orientation

In counselling Deborah naturally embraces a Person-Centered approach. She works with individuals to incorporate methods and techniques that fit each person's needs. She adheres to a Positive Psychology orientation, which affirms the healing ability of her clients and is a strength-based stance. As well, Deborah is well grounded in various humanist, cognitive-behavioural, systems, solution-focused, hypnotherapy and trauma methods among others. Key to her counselling is respecting the life orientation of each person, allowing the individual to set the pace of sessions, cuing into the core concerns and resolving issues as efficiently as possible.

Certifications & Education

Deborah is a Canadian Certified Counsellor (CCC) with the Canadian Counselling and Psychotherapy Association and an Alberta Registered Counselling Therapist (CT) with ACTA. She has a MEd. in Counselling Psychology from the University of Alberta and a Educational Studies from the University of British Columbia. Deborah did her undergraduate education at McGill University in Montreal.


Deborah has provided counselling to men, women, children and youth, families, and groups. She has insight to First Nations and Metis challenges and concerns which allows her to provide appropriate and respectful services. As well, she has worked with people from many cultures and countries and brings awareness and sensitivity to her counselling practice.

Deborah has provided counselling services through her private practice as well as a variety of organizations.
